Through trade and travel along the Silk Road, the civilizations throughout Eurasia developed economically and culturally. Ideas spread east and west. During this musical journey, you experience impressions of Orientalism and Exoticism.
Claude Debussy was one of the composers whose works have been impacted by his experience listening to Sundanese Gamelan Music at the Paris World Exposition of 1889. When Reynaldo Hahn visited Algeria and Egypt, he was fascinated by oriental folklore, muezzin prayers, and exotic dances. Both composers were profoundly influenced by these experiences. Come and experience a colourful musical journey along the Silk Road.
